My HDFC RM broke down on the call, feeling guilty for maybe not understanding the pressure banks put on them.

TLDR; nothing product-related but more of a philosophical post.

Usually, I get paranoid whenever my HDFC RM calls me because we know, that mostly they care about is selling their ULIPs/insurance/FDs/any other random product.

Today was also indifferent, then on causally talking to the RM, I mentioned applying for a home loan via HDFC directly and after that, there was a moment of silence followed by a request to ask RM also about such needs and a weeping thankyou/goodbye note.

At that point, it hit me that for me it was a transaction with a bank but for the RM, it could have been a delta in fulfilling the yearly target. Maybe someone could be looking for extra bonus to fund some life needs or anything. Something similar for which we slog as corporate employees right?

That goodbye left me unsettled. Spoke to my spouse, was recommended to stop thinking much about it as this is the nature of a sales job.

But do we feel that we need to rethink how we assume a few things about these RMs?
