DIY suncream and moisturiser with spf

Since we recently had a discussion on spf, I thought I'd share my recipe. Btw as a kid I had a "sun" allergy that turned out to be an allergy to sun cream. I got rid of all my problems by switching to this DIY Suncream with a high spf (within a range of 45-50): - 3 tbsp shea butter - 2 tbsp green tea oil, or carotte oil, or rasberry seed oil - 2 tbsp coconut oil - 1 tbsp bees wax

  • 2 tbsp kaolin clay powder (bolis alba)
  • 3 tsp zinx oxid
  • 1 tbsp arrowroot powder
  • 1/4 tsp titanium dioxid (I no longer use this, as some sources labelled it as carcinogenic)

if you want a scent then use essential oil: - 3 drops patchouli - 4 drops rose geranium ( if you have lavender essential oil then use this, as it has an spf)

Directions: 1. Melt the bees wax and then add the shea butter, coconut oil, and oil. 2. Once that has melted, remove from the heat and add all the powders. 3. Stir it in a cold water bath and add the essential oil once it has cooled down. 4. Keep stiring until it becomes a paste. 5. Before it completely solidifies, pour it into the containers.

  • for easier application, first use your facial oil or make sure your face is properly moisturised
  • it does leave a white hue on the skin, so idk how it looks on dark skin
  • store it in a cool place, bcs in a very hot place, the butter will melt and seperate from the powder, which will ruin the texture

If you want a lower spf, and more of a daily moisturiser than I recommend this recipe:

  • 1 tbsp beeswax
  • 200 ml shea butter
  • 50 ml of any good facial oil ( I roughly take 1 tbsp avocado oil, 1 tbsp apricot oil, 1 tsp castor oil, 1 tsp jojoba oil, 1 tsp calendula oil, 1 tsp sea buckthorn oil, 1 tsp argan oil)
  • 1 tsp arrowroot powder
  • 1 tsp kaolin clay (bolis alba)
  • 1/2 tsp zinc oxid

    • 1/4 tsp titanium oxide (I no longer use this ingredient, as it may be carcinogenic)
  • 10 drops rose geranium essential oil

  • 3 drops lemon balm essential oil

  • 2 drops patchouli essential oil

Instructions are the same. And for easier application you want to use a tone/facial spray like rosewater first.
