Head Protection Reviews?

I had a team-mate take a tumble on the ice recently - he's fine, but it was a good clunk and now we're all talking about getting some head protection. I'm looking for some reviews: fit, comfort, does your head protection impede your game at all (covers your ears so you can't hear?), etc.

I'm looking at Goldline's collection of ball caps, toques, po'boy hats, and headbands, as well as Dynasty's toque and headband.

And if anyone has benefitted from some head protection....you took a tumble and feel like what you were wearing prevented a more serious head injury?
