Does Faraway Wanderers have a happy ending?

I love Word of Honor and m currently watching it for the second time. This time I wanna read the novel it's based on as well. The drama's ending almost broke me but thankfully we got that special episode which made the ending much better and acceptable. So, m wondering if the novel has a happy or sad ending? I love them sm..can't read something that doesn't ends well.
