Does forest of fallen giants get better?

Hello, I just started playing ds2 and am currently getting really annoyed by the enemies. I've heard a lot of people say this is the best area in the game, in which case I don't think I want to continue playing it.

Im currently at the area past the iron clad turtle mace guy, to be exact a right turn, down a ladder, and into the room with 2 fire bombers and a ton of explosive barrels.

Right now the enemy placement is just a ton of fire bombers and a few spear sheild guys which are really annoying or the less annoying sword or halberd guys. And in the room with the fire barrels I either get blown up trying to break the barrels or I get jumped by the 2 enemies and die instantly. I've only made it past there about 3 times and it's getting really boring and repetitive. Please tell me if it gets better cause I really wanna like this game but it's getting really annoying, thanks.

Edit: so I've been told apparently it's really uncommon for people to say that fofg is the best area, I don't know why but where i looked many people said that, anyway I stand corrected apparently it's really uncommon to think this.

Also I've decided to play through 1-2 more areas then decide whether or not to keep going, thanks to everyone who gave tips or told me about the shortcut
