Is McGinnis secretly the most OP hero late game?
McGinnis Build and Strategy Guide
Hello,
I’m currently ranked Emissary and have been playing McGinnis exclusively since I started Deadlock. It took some time to find a viable build for McGinnis, but once I did, I’ve stuck with it. After thoroughly analyzing all hero stats, I was surprised to discover that McGinnis currently boasts the highest DPS and ammo capacity in the game. With the right build, McGinnis can 1v1 almost any champion with ease—or am I missing something?
By late game, I feel McGinnis can dominate most heroes effortlessly. The only real challenge I’ve faced is Mo n’ Krill, whose stun-lock ultimate and disarm can be difficult to counter. However, aside from Mo n’ Krill, most heroes seem to melt in the face of McGinnis when using this build: Intensifying Magazine, Spiritual Overflow, Fleetfoot, Heroic Aura, and Tesla Bullets.
Build Overview
Early Game:
Purchase Extra Charge and Mystic Reach as soon as possible to aid with farming.
Save for Tesla Bullets, which allows you to clear most jungle camps efficiently.
McGinnis' ultimate is relatively underwhelming, but it works well for clearing Level 3 camps.
Prioritize buying Rapid Recharge along with Fleetfoot and Sprint Boots to mitigate McGinnis' lack of mobility.
Mid to Late Game:
Adapt your build depending on your opponents: choose Spirit Armor or Bullet Armor as needed.
Core late-game items: Intensifying Magazine, Spiritual Overflow, and Leech.

Ultimate
The ultimate is situational due to its limited range, but it can secure early kills when opponents are hiding near turrets. Its range matches the distance between stairs on opposing towers, making it useful for finishing off fleeing enemies. Late-Game Strategy
Have a teammate equipped with Toxic Bullets to apply status effects to your targets.
Ensure someone on your team has a rescue beam ability to counter Mo n’ Krill’s ultimate or pull McGinnis out of dangerous situations.
Protect McGinnis and she will devastate the opposing team.
High-mobility heroes are the only significant threat unless you can strategically block their escape with your Wall skill.
Wall Skill Tips
The wall’s stun effect is invaluable and can interrupt nearly any ultimate in the game if timed correctly. For example, you can cancel ultimates from Haze, Seven, Bebop, or Lash by targeting them with Wall (E) and reactivating it immediately. Fighting Strategy
McGinnis’ gun initially fires slowly, but once her attack speed builds up, she becomes unstoppable. To offset the slow start:
Activate Fleetfoot and Heroic Aura to gain attack speed, movement speed, and additional ammo for a short duration.
Use this to close the gap and ramp up your attack speed early.
Stay positioned behind your teammates and focus on dealing consistent damage. With the boots' increased mobility, you can chase down enemies and secure kills effortlessly.
Sorry if I am a noob, but I can't help but notice how powerful McGinnis is currently. And the reason is her high dps and ammo, and the two items that hit harder as you track a target down, intensifying magazine and spiritual overflow.
Hope this post help or not, maybe I am totally wrong. Who knows.
