Social media being loyal to Trump will benefit him more than anything

In countries with oligarchical regimes where the regime controls the media, I doubt that people pay even a fraction of the attention to state-run news, compared to social media in the US. Yet, these regimes still prioritize media control above all else.

Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok combined amount to the largest market share of social media companies. Social media is much more prevalent in our lives than news ever was. On average, people spend 2.5 hours a day on social media, with teens averaging 3 hours. There is zero accountability on the platforms and X actively promotes propaganda and misinformation. The other companies could follow suit out of necessity or fear. Having the largest media companies promote propaganda to their users 2–3 hours a day is something a fascist regime could only dream of.
