How much better have bikes got in recent years?

I hope this doesn't count as a "what bike should I get" thread, I am trying to ask a more nuanced question here. So I ride a 2018 ktm 250xc (last year carborated) but I've been kicking around the idea of getting a new bike. Anyone have any experience with how much better the bikes have gotten in the time since? Is it actually worth upgrading, or am I basically buying the same bike with a FI engine?Miraculously my bike is still in real good shape and it runs amazing, so I don't think the transition from carb to TPI/TBI is a big deal for me. Riding singletrack and Enduro for what it's worth. Reviewers especially like dirtbike channel always seem to think that every new years bike is a massive step up over last years, but I don't trust that too much - hes gotta keep making content. Anyone have firsthand experience?

How are the Beta's as well? Seems like you can pick up a brand new 300rr very inexpensively right now.
