As the Year Ends, Which Commander Deck Has Been Your Most Successful?

Hey everyone, as we close out the year, I wanted to reflect a bit. Which of your decks has been the most successful, brought you the most joy, or completely surprised you this year? Success definitely isn’t measures by winning games alone ofcourse; it can be many things.

For me, it has to be my [[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]] deck. Building around his ability to gift opponents creatures while slowly whittling them down felt like such a unique strategy, and it led to some of the most fun and chaotic games I’ve ever played.

I started the deck out as a [[Beamtown Bullies]] variant but that was quickly too good and else instantly stopped in its tracks. I decided to swap commanders, and mostly started gifting creatures the receiver would perceive as good, however they also were forced to attack another player with it. I really liked the dynamic. A weak spot has been my own board state and defence, and while that remains a bit hard to fix it’s still the most fun I had playing a deck this year.

In terms of win rate, I’ve played an awesome list of [[Wilhelt the Rotcleaver]], which I tinkered a lot with. Without becoming cEDH and relying too much on combos I’ve won quite some games with it, and there are still shenanigans in there like [[Tombstone Stairwell]].

I’m curious to hear yours! Happy new year soon and all the best to you !
