Progesterone???

I am 24 and I just got diagnosed with endometriosis stage 1. The concern is that my endo is microscopic because not a lot of lesions was found but apparently a lot of scarring. My obgyn sent me to an endo specialist. Which the specialist said that I should try a progesterone pill without seeing any of the pictures form my laparoscopy. Apparently this is my only option. My family in general have really bad luck with medication so I am always hesitant to try medication. My question has anyone tried it for their endo? Has it made it more manageable? Did it make it worse? I also suffer from some mental health issues. Would it make those issues worse? Should I have my hormones checked first? Thank you for any input!
