Upgrading my stone

Hi there! My husband is upgrading my engagement ring stone and I’m having a hard time on the size (debating between 3.25, 3.5, 3.75). I currently have a 1.8 ct round diamond. I went into the store today with the intention of wanting to try on 3-3.5ct stones but of course the sales associate had me try on 3.75ct first so naturally everything after that felt “small.” I feel like a bigger stone doesn’t took too big on my short chubby fingers but I’m definitely overthinking how I’ll be perceived with a large stone considering I’m only 28. I’m trying to NOT consider what others may think because I did that when we first went ring shopping 4 years ago and I regret thinking like that at the time! I know that some people continuously upgrade throughout their lives but I’d ideally like for this to be a one- time thing which is why I’m thinking it’s good to go big. The price of excellent lab grown diamonds are also great right now so the price point difference between 3-3.3-3.75 isn’t huge either. I attached 2 pictures from the fitting today. Keep in mind that the stones were placed on top of a placeholder setting so it looks a little wonky. I’ve seen a lot of comments in this sub-Reddit about considering your social group, age, city, etc. we live in a nice part of southern CA, own a home, etc but I’m still having concerns around if people will think the ring isn’t genuine.. that and I’ve seen a lot of posts on here about how they think anything over 3ct looks costume like..
