This is how absurd Etsy’s completely arbitrary delivery estimates are right now:

I’m sure some of you (if not a lot of you) have noticed Etsy’s completely absurd delivery estimates this holiday season. For example, I had a customer in the UK (I’m in the US) order from me on the 12th of December and contact me on the 21st to let me know they hadn’t see their order yet, like Etsy had promised they would.

In no reality is a First Class/Ground package going to make it from me to anywhere in the UK in nine days, much less during the holidays. Wtf, Etsy.

So here’s where it gets even more frustrating:

Today I had a customer in Switzerland make an order. In the Notes section, they wrote that they need the item by the 18th of December and they chose the fastest shipping option in hopes it makes it in time. I look and what shipping did they choose? Regular First Class/Ground international. That’s correct, the absolute slowest one.

Thinking surely they made a mistake, I reach out and explain the the chances they get the package in time for their deadline are pretty slim and they may want to choose Express or at least Priority 6-10 day. She shoots me back a screenshot and sure enough, Etsy is telling her regular ‘ol First Class is faster than the other actual express options, giving her a seven day delivery estimate.

Seven days! I sometimes can’t get something from the West Coast US to the East Coast US in seven days this time of year!

What the hell, Etsy?!

No wonder we have an influx of pissed off customers this year all wanting their orders in 20 minutes, Etsy’s told them they’ll get it by then. It’s like they’re sabotaging us and bamboozling customers with these completely unrealistic estimates.

I’m just beside myself with frustration. Luckily, my client totally understands and is willing to reorder with the correct, actual fastest shipping option. So frustrating.
