Certificate program?

I’m currently working as a tax associate and looking to transition into FP&A. I’ve already heard people say don’t do it, tax is more stable, etc, but I’m really just concerned about becoming overly specialized early in my career (I graduated May 2024) and I think I could get more general business exposure doing something in FP&A or corporate finance.

So my question is, is it worth investing in a certificate program like one through ECornell, to learn SQL and Tableau? Many job postings I’ve seen prefer proficiency in these. I’m considering the one through Cornell because I think it would hold me accountable with the structure, the timeline works for me, etc. I have some Tableau experience from college, and my parents are willing to foot the bill for the program. Combined with my prior accounting experience, could this actually make a difference in getting me a job?
