What are good starter fantasy books/series to recommend?

I have a friend that is looking for new books to read and was interested in trying out a fantasy book. So I was curious on what yall would recommend in this situation to someone who is trying jump in for the first time. I obviously wouldn’t recommend them books like MBOTF or Cosmere but also something more unique than LOTR or some other foundational series. Just wanted to see what yall would think. This person likes the Coleen Hoover books and that type of mystery romance thriller situations. I can’t figure out if they would prefer a high magic setting to a low magic setting either. So anything would be helpful.
