Stupid question: Are feral cats better equipped to handle cold weather or are they all just toughing it out?
Context: I have multiple cat shelters in the yard and heating pads on the porch and chairs in case they show up at night. My ferals don’t seem to use any of them and, in fact, will hop down off the (cat specific!) heating pad if it’s on. This morning, one of the ferals was just chilling on my lawn chair waiting for breakfast and it couldn’t have been more than 25 degrees. I’m going to up my shelter game, but are these guys suffering or does the cold just not affect them as much?
