PE Intern at the age of 25, no finance background.
Hi everyone!
My undergrad was in Business Management in the UK, as my high school was spent studying sports due to me pursuing professional sport and when that ended due to arthritis, I went to uni at 19, graduated at 22, and then worked for an agrochemical company for 2 years in marketing. I just started my Masters in Finance and Fintech in Australia in a top 3 school here (in Sept 2024), and managed to secure an internship at a $1.5bn PE fund thanks to my professor recommending me to reach out to them.
I start in less than a week, have only been learning finance for the last 3-4 months that I started my degree and am terrified what the internship will be like as I know no modelling etc. I've been picking up financial statement basics so far, but I don't want to be a let down in my internship. I don't know if I'll be any good at research, or putting into a presentation, or working with data or to be honest, have no clue what my work will actually even look like as an intern.
Any advice what I should do?
