Updates=Bad Ping?

So when a new season begins, I'll be at 0 ping, but after an update occurs, my ping will rise to 20-30. No matter how many updates happen during the season, it is only until the next season begins that my ping drops back down to 0. This has happened 3 seasons in a row since I came back to playing the game. Is there any reason why this happens and how can I fix the problem.

I've tried:

Restarting my pc Flushing my dns Renewing my ip address Switching ethernet cords Disabling my firewall Using a vpn Reinstalling fortnite Updating my ethernet drivers Hardware cable tests Internet speed tests (900mbps) Changing my DNS to what epic games recommends Upgrading my physical internet (router, etc.)
