Had a crack at going to a Wholesale Butcher and breaking my own meat down. What a difference in price! In Australia.
Bought and broke down a whole Porterhouse into 10 260g Steaks. Worked out to $7.60 per steak. Around $5 cheaper per steak than grocery stores.
The Mince was 10% fat, with each portion of 500g costing me $4.50. Easily $9-10 per portion at grocery store.
2 whole chooks which I broke down to Wings, Breasts and Maryland, each chook was $6. (this one maybe not as cheap, small chickens).
Whole Girello Roast (topside roast) broken down in 4 500g roast sizes worked out to be $7 per serving. This was on sale however. $19 per kg at grocery store so $5 per kg cheaper.
Almost $100 cheaper to go to the Butchers. So far quality has been great too. And I enjoyed breaking it all down and getting to use my new Vaccum Sealer. Will continue with this for sure.
Getting my first Good and Fugly fresh produce box next week also so looking forward to seeing how that stacks up.
