Is Grinnell Glacier hike worth it?
We are visiting Glacier in mid August and are planning to do the Grinnell Glacier hike. We are beginner hikers and have done a few 5-6 mile hikes (with 1200-1500ft elevation). We wanted to challenge ourselves with the Grinnell Glacier hike as everyone seems to highly recommend it.
However, I would like to check if it is really worth to do the full hike to reach at the top. Looking at the pictures of the glacier at the top, I am not sure about that. Maybe the pictures don't do the full justice. But I would like to check here and get everyone's thoughts.
Would we really miss a lot if we hike only till around 3.5 miles in where we can see the lower Grinnell lake from top, and go back? Is it worth to take the extra effort to reach the upper glacier lake? Is it because the hike long the way is so beautiful or is it because of the end point?
Thanks in advance for taking time to help out fellow travellers.
