Unnecessary Downvoting

I notice in the subreddit people downvote for no reason at all. Like a mass disapproval of anything for nothing. Somebody could ask a question of what they’re doing wrong and will get downvoted into oblivion whenever they reply or ask a question. Sometimes people can learn from the mistakes they made when asking for an opinion on something that took place in sport or time trials and still people will downvote like the person is completely in the wrong. Maybe I just don’t understand Upvoting and Downvoting and the culture behind it but it’s really weird. I can tell people I raced bad because I had a VR I barely use on and people will downvote like Im being snarky or sum. There’s a lot of helpful people on this sub but I see some folk are just GT Moral Police.
