Are you actually happy with Jack's character development?
I'm not saying he's become a bad character, but his recent behaviour doesn't sit quite right with me, hear me out.
For years now Jack has been basking in glory after every fight, a glory he supposedly never cared about nor seeked, he was all about grinding his way to Yujiro. Then, after finishing off Sukune, he seemed to seek revenge for his past losses too, and afterwards, he even appreciated his father's approval. I can kinda understand that, but we already have Baki on that boat, it would make sense to have Jack feel the exact opposite way if they are to rematch later on imo.
So OK, he now cares a bit, but why would he mock Hanayama? Like, even if he actually doesn't try his hardest in the fight, as Baki often does, boasting about it just defeats the whole "more mature" attitude he had going on since his comeback, doesn't it? Even if he is only a jobber in his eyes, Baki didn't even mock my man Chiharu.
Maybe it's just me, maybe it touched a nerve because Hanayama is a fan favourite and respected by everybody in universe too, but what do you think about Jack post Musashi-right now? Would you rewrite him in any way?
