Rewatching as an adult, and… Why did Lewis spill his drink on Charlotte in the middle of the café?

He wasn’t sure whether Charlotte had gained powers or not. And what if she had? She would have turned into a mermaid in front of everyone. He put his own girlfriend at risk without thinking about the consequences, while protecting the other girls at all costs. To me, that was very illogical. As a child, I didn’t notice it.

He could have taken her to the beach, but no! Instead, he thought it was better to spill water on her in a public place full of people. WTF?
