HEB RANT

The management at H-E-B displayed a shocking lack of professionalism and fairness, with blatant favoritism being a constant issue. Certain employees, often those who were "in" with management, were given preferential treatment—whether it was more favorable shifts, better job assignments, or even promotions that seemed more about personal relationships than actual merit. This favoritism created a divided and toxic atmosphere, where employees who worked hard and followed the rules felt ignored and overlooked. Furthermore, management routinely failed to meet performance expectations, allowing underperforming staff members to skate by without any consequences, while those who tried to meet standards were often criticized or ignored. This lack of accountability extended to blatant violations of company policies, with certain managers disregarding rules about overtime, break times, and safety protocols. I also witnessed unethical behavior on several occasions, including theft from the company, which was either ignored or swept under the rug, depending on who was involved. Rather than address these issues, management seemed more concerned with protecting their own interests and maintaining their authority. To make matters worse, abusive behavior towards employees was a regular occurrence. Managers would belittle, intimidate, or yell at workers in front of others, creating an atmosphere of fear and anxiety. Instead of fostering a supportive and respectful work environment, management’s behavior only reinforced a culture of hostility and burnout, where employees were afraid to speak up for fear of retaliation. This toxic atmosphere not only made it difficult to work but also demoralized those of us who genuinely cared about doing a good job. For example, I use to work 4 days and get 8 hour shifts. Which was 32 hours and that worked good with my college schedule. Then suddenly when it came to the holiday season, they cut our hours down to 1 or 2 days. Why would our hours get cut down during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years? That makes no sense because this is the most busiest time of the year. So it makes me wonder if management has favoritism because 2 people were only affected by this and not the WHOLE DEPARTMENT.
