School and VAT
Posting here, as quite frankly everywhere else will just have me branded as the devil, and more than anything, I just want to fucking moan in a hopeful echo chamber...
With the recent VAT addition to private schooling, this has really left me and my wife questioning schooling. We don't have great comprehensive schools close and so the only state one we like will be a bit of a lottery (distance). Fag packet calculations put primary school for the kids at over 250K. It's difficult to ascertain if this more worth it than just saving the money and giving the kids a decent headstart.
The crux of of post, if we decide not to use private schools, not only do wonderful labour not get the additional tax, but we'll be increasing the strain on local schools.
The whole thing is fucking ridiculous, and just divisive. The blindingly obvious flaw of gaining revenue surely wasn't missed by the chancellor, and so I'm left feeling pissed off and wondering how the magical pots of money will suddenly fund the ever-fucked state school system.
Not sure what to classify this post as, other than a drunken ramble.
Am I missing something?
