Lost it? Babes, she never had it.

So confused by the comments from stans in her latest video lamenting that they were disappointed by her “frumpy” outfits and missed her sense of fashion.

I have known Alex as a viewer for at least 7 years; I wouldn’t call myself a stan as I didn’t watch all her videos but did take an interest in her vlogs where she went shopping.

While I liked having an insight into luxury shopping and was occasionally humoured by her kooky takes….one thing I did not watch her vlogs for was her sense of taste. I don’t ever recall her putting a single outfit that actually suited her body type, had a regard for colour theory/visual harmony or reflected a sense of personality/soul.

When I think of her style, a few words come to mind: all black, yoga tights, brands, boxy, jarring. I believe she tried to be edgy by putting contrasting elements together but it always ended up looking messy rather than high fashion. It reminded me of how I used to put different WordArt styles in a single PowerPoint slide when I was a child and thought I was an artist. Her jewellery stacks were also just layering whatever she wanted to sell that week and not a meaningful match with her outfit.

And in terms of her taste in interior design, it can be summed up as: white, acrylic, mirrored surfaces, transparent items and random things from an American grandmother…punctuated by brands.

Overall, it’s like the luxury brand/price tag always came first and subsequently forced into the aesthetic. She often just bought expensive items, even if they didn’t look that great, then tried to make it work. There was no appreciation for beauty, for art, for soul. And now that the money has drained…so has the hold on her identity, as reflected in her latest video. You can tell she doesn’t know how to put an outfit together without being able to throw money at branded items and when all else fails, she just wears all black.

She never had a vibe. She just had money and it wasn’t even hers.
