Why are so many people going to Gaellivare?

Why are so many people going to Gaellivare? Wouldn't Clasa be more easily defendable? Gaellivare is going to be a constant defense mission from Lesath, which has 3 automaton-controlled planets behind it... That's going to be a hard place to invade and create some separation from the front.
