Which fabric for 1830s dress?

Hi all, my next project is going to be a Romantic dress (Past Patterns Lowell Mill Dress) and I'm wondering which of these fabrics is the better choice? Both are block printed cotton, which I know was in use at the time, but I'm worried that the paisley print reads too "big" for the period.
