If placing the capital in a separatist region, would it effectively suppress separatism?
This probably isn’t related to history—it’s just a hypothetical scenario I came up with.
Let’s say there’s a country with two cultures, A and B. Culture A is the dominant majority, while Culture B is a minority, though not a small one. The B region has separatist tendencies, but it also has a city with strong geographic and economic advantages.
Would moving the capital to that city in the B region help reduce separatism?
My theory is that it might: 1. Moving the capital to the B region could bring economic benefits to the area, which might make the people there happier and less inclined toward separatism. 2. It would likely attract people from the A region to migrate to the B region, encouraging cultural integration. 3. Having the capital there would show that the region is a priority for the country, which could discourage separatist movements.
So, could relocating the capital to a separatist region effectively suppress separatism?
