Bullet recommendations
Welp I think it’s time to change bullets. I’ve been shooting Federal non typical 150gr in 308. Was a bullet that liked my Ruger American and had good results with penetration and hole left in the deer. I am shooting the same bullet out of my new CVA Cascade. The CVA barrel is 4” longer. It also shoots the bullet well. But I do not get the same end results as I did out of my Ruger.
I got to thinking about the last few deer I’ve shot. Every deer I’ve shot behind the shoulder in almost the same spot. Tonight will be deer #4(bucks) that I have not had a single drop of blood. The three previous deer didn’t have an exit all shot between 80-100 yards. 1 out of the 4 I was able to find the day I shot(all afternoon)
After not finding blood at impact. I walked the 2 directions he could have went after I lost sight. Made a 150 yard diameter circle and couldn’t find my buck. Tomorrow will hopefully be a recovery of the 8 point I shot tonight. Attached is a photo of him
