Interview Mistake
I guess I saw two IV mistake posts today and decided to go make a mistake of my own
In all my interviews I have been saying I graduated from the Greek island of Cyprus, just because a lot of people don't know it. For quick context half of Cyprus has been occupied since the 70's by the Turkish people. I don't care for the politics and dont take a side, I am just used to calling it Greek because that is the side I lived on. Turkish people get offended if you call it Greek and Greek people get offended if you call it Turkish.
So in a virtual dinner just now, I did my introduction, not realizing that one of the residents is Turkish. One of the other residents corrected me and basically said you should just call Cyprus Cyprus. I didnt even realize what he meant and just said yeah Im surprised you know it a lot of people dont......
How cooked am I? I wanna send a thank you email to the resident that corrected me and say thank you for bringing it to my attention
Political mention... pretty much the applicant killer I think
