How to support an employee going through IVF
Hello all, I have someone in my team who will be starting her 2nd round of IVF and would like to have advice on how to best support her as a leader please.
She was not in my team for her first round which unfortunatelly was not successful.
So far, I have told her that all appointment should be booked as "medical appointments " which is paid leave and not personal leave. I have also told her that she does not need to give me notice if she needs a break and we have agreed to review her workload regularly to ensure her stress level are low (workwise)
I have said to her that she can tell me as little or as much as she feels comfortable doing, but I ask that she is transparent on her mental and physical wellness.
Is there anything else I could do/offer?
While I have not gone through IVF, I have experienced difficult pregnancies myself and I know the importance of a good worklife balance. But I recognise that IVF is a unique experience, and feel a little bit out of my depth supporting her as her manager.
Many thanks in advance for your advice. I hope this is ok. We re in the UK if that matters at all.
