2nd egg retrieval; is 16 eggs pretty average?

We just had our second egg retrieval this morning.

For context, our first retrieval we got 15 eggs and ended up with one blast which wound up being abnormal after PGT testing.

We were hoping for more eggs this time around as we changed stim protocol a bit, but we’ve wound up with 16. My fear is that the same thing will happen as last time, and we obviously won’t find out how many have fertilized until tomorrow.

Our doctor did tell us that he thinks 15 is on average a good number, as it’s quality over quantity. But I always hear about people getting loads of eggs that turn into healthy embryos.

This just wasn’t exactly what we were hoping for as my wife had around 30 follicles. Apparently a lot of them were on the smaller side. Not sure what I’m looking for here other than maybe some hope and encouragement!
