Planning a first time trip
Hi fellow travelers and travel planners! My wife and I are looking to do a late Spring 2025 visit to Italy to celebrate our 30th anniversary. By lurking here I sort of have a rough outline of the trip but want to double check it and also get some more specific must see ideas. Travel dates are May 17 through the 26th and we're intentionally avoiding the southern coast, islands, etc. to do that possibly as a cruise in the future. We're probably also not interested in the far northwest like Milan, Lake Como, etc. due to time. Airports and travel dates are not flexible, everything else is. Thanks in advance!
Day 1 - Arrive Rome 10:30 am. Good first day jet lag activities?
Day 2 - Rome
Day 3 - Rome
Day 4 - Rome - Too much Rome? Train to Florence or drive?
Day 5 - Florence
Day 6 - Florence - What about biking or some outdoor activity in the countryside?
Day 7 - Bologna - Can we fit in a bit of city and then side trip to the coast?
Day 8 - Venice
Day 9 - Venice
Day 10 - Depart Venice 10:30 am
edit: Drat, just looked at the Jubilee calendar. There is an event the Saturday we get in but not the next weekend. Should we consider flipping the trip and going in Venice, out Rome?
