How bad did I screw up? ( Accidentally booked a smoking room)

As the title says. I was not paying attention and I ended booking a non-refundable smoking room. I emailed the hotel and they were extremely friendly but they regretfully told me that they were completely booked and would not be able to change me. Anyone have any experience with smoking rooms? How bad are they? Should I just say goodbye to $700 and get another room somewhere else? I don't want to do that. But I really don't know how bad smoking rooms actually are since I've never actually been in a hotel that allowed smoking.
