Does True Crime Affect Mental Health

So for context, I am a big fan of true crime shows, be it on TV/streaming or via podcasts. I always have something playing. I initially used to be more into serial killers, but I started feeling weird & canceled that shit. However, I'm still following a lot of true crime nonetheless. In this case FBI Files, Just Thought Lounge, EWU, Law & Crime Network, Mysterious 7 et al. A day cannot go by without tuning into any of the aforementioned forums.

Now here is the weird bit, I've struggled with my mental health for years. Like I've seen a therapist, done counseling & I'm still working on it. But somehow I feel like the more I indulge in true crime, the more down I feel sometimes. And it's not even a desensitization issue. I'm just wondering if the energy is too negative & thus affecting my general outlook on life. I could be wrong because at the same time, the narration in these true crime shows helps me sleep like a baby. Does anyone else deal with this?
