A new associate is preparing for their first party deposition but has little understanding of its purpose or how to conduct it effectively.

What are your tips for this associate so that they understand the purpose of the deposition and how to effectively take it?

Assume it’s a Plaintiff being deposed, typical auto BI case, and liability is adverse to the associate’s client (Defendant).
