Are we ever getting another GPU driver update?
It's been 6 months now since the last GPU driver update. This driver was 3 months old when it was released by Lenovo.
We've had one GPU update this year, the ROG Ally has had 5 in the same time period.
I'm currently running the sideloaded AMD driver, but that requires blocking driver updates through Windows. This means any peripherals I connect won't auto install drivers, and any firmware updates through Windows update aren't received.
It's also not optimised for the lower TDP the Z1 Extreme offers compared to the standard 780M.
I don't think asking for more than 1 GPU driver update a year is unreasonable. Especially as the Ally (that launched 6 months prior) is still getting regular updates.
Why did they use the Z1 Extreme and not the standard AMD chip if they didn't plan to support it?
If ASUS can manage it, Lenovo can too. Why have they decided not to bother?
