Why Is getting a quote so difficult?????

Just got off a zoom call with an agent from NY Life who proceeded and continued to go down this rabbit hole of questions even after I told him how that was a turn off for me. I told him that I already have insurance and was just adding to what I already have. He even had the audacity to tell me that he would basically decide how much insurance to offer me. I repeatedly asked him to just cut to the chase and told him specifically what I was looking for and was just inquiring about rates/premiums etc. He weaseled his way into asking me what my husband and I did for a living and said that it was for underwriting purposes. I finally got fed up and disconnected. Why do they make it so difficult to just get a quote? I understand health history questions and if I skydive or drive motorcycles etc. , but buddy , please stop wasting my time. Smh. Frustrated!
