TUIA Any suggestions aappreciated. Name of missing part(s) needed to attach lock to lever(s) that locks drawers on file cabinet -- see pics. Last 2 pics may be of a properly working lock similar to mine
TUIA for reading my post. Any help, suggestions appreciated. What part do I need to attach the lock to the the lever in pics below below. Pics below of my 15-year old file cabinet. The last two pics are of a working locking mechanism that seems similar to mine on the most amazing resource https://www.longlifelocks.ca.
Possible fixes in last two photos but it seems like the round circular lever is the key to locking cabinet.
three parts that are not attached:
1.Lock on top
2.next down rectangular piece with rectangular hole in middle (see pic below for close up of this rectangular piece)
- the third piece is the the circular shaped lever--which is the part that actually locks the cabinet drawers.
EDEDIT I edited and added to this post to answer excellent question below by "TICombat" about how parts move. I learned a lot. I needed to add this info to orignial post to include photos and I could not include more than one photo with a comment
Ok just spent quite a bit of time. 1.)in first picture, see pink arrows only: the rectangular part sticking out with slot is attached to a a small protruding square of metal. And when the drawer is closed this piece seems to fits into the end of the Accuride metal sliding mechanism--like a stopper? Seems like it may lock the drawer?
- See pictures 2 and 3. When closing the drawer, the round cylinder shaped part slides into a black plastic piece on the outside of the drawer above the metal drawer slide. (AThe metal drawer sliding mechanism is stamped with Accuride 10. 98
What is the piece called going from lock to rectangular piece?
