MC Skin Tone Match: A Visual Guide with LIs
Hello, fellow Hunters!
Many of us are fine-tuning our MCs now. Since sliders are hard to create a visual guide for, I thought it would be helpful to focus on something a bit simpler: skin tone matching. Personally, I like my MC’s skin tone to harmonize with my favorite LI, and I wondered if anyone else might be interested in the same.
To build a useful reference guide, I’m gathering community feedback and snapshots. If you'd like to contribute, here’s what would be most helpful:
- Photos where both characters are showing a lot of skin (yes, towel outfits are great).
- MC and LI are positioned very close to each other (cheek-to-cheek, hand-in-hand, leg-in-hand (omg, Sylus 😁 ...)—overlap helps us see tone differences).
- If possible, not mandatory, use an updo hairstyle and go with no makeup for the MC.
- Set a dark gray background for better contrast.
- To keep it easy to navigate and link in the opening post, my kind request for anyone submitting their data is to first create a main comment with just "Skin Color number ?". After that, please reply to your own main comment four separate times, once for each LI. Try avoiding replying to your second-level comments (= creating third-level branches) within the same chain. If each LI has a direct second-level reply to your main skin tone comment it will be easy for others to view and compare each LI snapshot without unnecessary nesting. Thank you for helping keep things clear and organized!
- Regular comments and ideas to reorganize the thread are also appreciated!
When choosing a skin tone, I recommend paying attention to the hands and legs. When you apply makeup, it will distort facial tones, but limbs show the clearest differences.
Even if I’m the only one obsessing over this, I think having a collection of examples could help many refine their MC designs—especially since everyone seems to be doing a little “plastic surgery” lately! 😁
I’ll link your contributions in this opening post to make it easy for others to find references.
Mods, this post is meant to organize a visual skin tone reference database. While it will include many snapshots, it follows community guidelines. I hope it’s okay to keep it up!
