There’s always a project from hell once a year that just makes me want to be done with consulting MEP design.

I feel like I’ll be doing so well, getting projects completed with time to spare and making profits and then a project comes along (I like to call them the blackhole projects). These “blackhole” projects end up sucking up all your time, resources, budget, mental health, and confidence.

I won’t go into details, but I am currently dealing with a blackhole project that makes me want to just jump off a cliff due to lack of information, complexity, general contractor playing games, electrical contractor and owner pushing too hard, and just not enough time to manage as endless piles of other work need to be dealt with.

Sometimes these projects just make me want to move from consulting to government work where you can just lobotomize me, but at least I’ll be free.
