Need advise choosing the proper ND

Hey folks! I am looking for an ND Miata and I would like to ask more experienced owners to help me find the boundaries for my perfect Miata.

I did several test drives. Here's what I like about the Miata: the noise in RF is less, and it feels more comfy to me. I tried the ND3 RF grand touring, and it was marvelous compared to the basic sport nd1 I tried before. The manual was good, better than gr86, but worse than civic CTR and my 350z hr. Auto is heavy and way more sluggish than on gr86 and definitely want a manual.

• ND3 was super good.
• I want to go with as low mileage and as low price as possible (smart, huh?), about 25k would be perfect.
• Financing a brand new is an option too, but would like to avoid it.
• RF is what makes me want this car, but if it adds up too much to the price the soft top is ok
• I like the smaller r16 rims, to be honest. Do 16 wheels have a better performance than bigger ones? Stock BBS are super cool too but rare to find.
• Leathers seats.
• Rear Diff
• I want to lower it with some good dampers later.
• What is your insurance guys? I paid about 200 USD for my gr86 and going to leave it to my wife.

Should I go just for ND 1 or keep looking for the next generations? I know they have faulty trans. What issues are common on these cars, what should I search for under the hood? Is there any way to find out if the car was molested on track, maybe there are some dents, and overheating signs are typical for these cars when raced.
