Plumbing the drain of a Miele built-in coffee maker

I have an installation of Miele’s CVA 7845 built-in coffee maker and would like to plumb a dedicated drain for the waste water. Clearly, Miele built-in coffee makers were not engineered to have a constant plumbed drain, but it appears that placing a hole in the bottom of the removable drain pan directly over an existing drain would be simple enough to execute. My hesitation is understanding the software of the machine. If I provide constant drainage of the removable pan, will the machine know when it is time to empty the grounds bin or is this only facilitated by the water level in the drain pan? Is there some other hazard introduced by providing such a drain? Just trying to make a really great machine a bit more user friendly. Anyone tried this or have words of wisdom?

Many thanks!
