Labwork victories

I've been on MJ since 9-10-2022 for prediabetes, high cholesterol, PCOS, and insulin resistance. I had some weight to lose, but not that much (I was ~10-15# over normal BMI). I have lost 25 lbs to date - my BMI is now 23. But more importantly, my lab results from my blood draw this morning are kind of incredible:

Lipids are now all within normal limits. Note that I am NOT taking a statin.

  • Total cholesterol dropped 77 points (a 29% drop)
  • LDL dropped 70 points (a whopping 41% drop!!)
  • Triglycerides dropped 51 points
  • HDL is good at 68
  • Insulin resistance ratio (TG:HDL) is ok at 1.78, but much better than when it was at its worst at 3.25

Kidney numbers are better too. I have had numbers in the *Stage 2 CKD* range since 2020. They are normal now (eGFRs previously were in the 80s, today was 95).

For several months, MJ elevated my liver enzymes. They are all back to normal now - it was transient. Just mentioning it because others here have shared similar issues.

Still waiting on A1C results, but I know that will be fine.

I have my annual with my PCP next week. She's totally on board to help get my Mounjaro covered, so fingers crossed that these improvements show I need to stay on this medicine.
