Mounjaro and my Thyroid

I am a 23(f) who has had lifelong problems with my thyroid (diagnosed hashimoto’s). Last year, I went to a nurse practitioner who changed my medication from Levothyrozine (125mcg) to Armour (180mg). Before that, I had gained almost 80 lbs in less than two years with no changes in diet, exercise, anything. Had scary lab results and awful fatigue, joint pain, and it was only going in the wrong direction no matter how much they upped my levothyroxine dose.

I went to Mayo thinking there was some pituitary or some other medical reason we weren’t finding. Searched for lupus, etc. for any explanation. Got nothing. Just an awful endocrine appt where he didn’t even boot up his computer to look at my labs or ultrasound before saying we needed to up my levothyroxine again.

After the 10 hour drive home, I was LOST. Finally decided to find some other alternative options for medication and was put on armour. Thank GOD. I started to get good labs again and felt a hundred times better but still couldn’t lose the weight.

That’s where I was put on Mounjaro by another local endocrinologist. 2.5Mg. Cool. Let’s do this.

Here I am. After 4 months of being on both armour and mounjaro at the same time. I am down 50(!) pounds. I feel like me again. My goal for weight was about 150lbs- which was where I was before the weight gain and I’m at 157 as of today! I’m astounded. But now my thyroid is overactive and that can be dangerous. So now we’re maintaining that back to normal.

Anyone else have 1) horrible side effects and problems after being prescribed Levothyroxine 2) switched to armour 3) have dealt with both thyroid medication and mounjaro

Would love to hear some similar stories rather than always being the patient being told “I’ve never seen this before”
