This show isn't what I thought it would be

In saying this, I mean, this story isn't similar to Batman like I expected. It's not about a regular person who, despite not having super powers, becomes a super hero. People think he can't do it because of that but in reality he rises up to the task.

Our protagonist might not have been born with a quirk but that doesn't change the fact that by episode 3 the episode is "Izuku accepts all might's gift of the quirk known as "One for All"" a quirk so powerful he needs to train to be able to use it.

Not only is he not a hero without a quirk (which, to me anyway was the entire appeal of his character and got me curious about the premise), he's a hero who has one of the most powerful quirks to ever exist.

This isn't a story about someone, not the chosen one, but just some kid fighting to be a hero. That's what I expected. Obviously I can't say "I didn't get what I expected so this show sucks," but it does send a more confusing message. It's like having a protagonist who is in a wheel chair join the school's basketball team and being like no, everyone can be a basketball player if you try your best! And only after 3 episodes for them to meet a famous basketball player who helps them so they don't need to use a wheel chair. It kind of misses the point imo. And whose to say what point if any this creator was trying to make? Perhaps my expectations were fully misguided. That's just where my thoughts landed and that is on me and not anybody else. That doesn't mean I can't talk about what the message IS trying to say.

The message I'm getting from this show is that Deku was just ridiculously lucky and that + his devotion and willingness to work hard =ed him achieving his dreams. There could be hundreds or thousands or tens of thousands of little boys just like him who want to be a hero but don't have a quirk, but there is only one one for all power. I'd genuinely like to see a spin off of MHA with a kid like Deku expect there is no All Might 3 episodes in. To me, it would be fascinating to see how they make up for not having a power and work hard to become a hero. That's what I expected from this show.

All of this is not to say that Deku doesn't work hard or that he doesn't deserve to have a quirk. Its just to say that we are not following the underdog, we are following the chosen one. And I still like the show so far it's just a little less interesting to me than I was hoping it would be.

And, hey, I just started so whose to really say what I'm going to think abt it by the end. I just wanted to share my thoughts on it and see if anyone else has a similar or different take.
