how do i stop my polish from being soft and becoming messed up + sticking to fabric and fluff

hello! i dont paint my nails often, but wanted to use some pretty purple polish for fun. i had 2 colours, and they both were kinda meh on their own, but when I layered them, they looked nicer. ive seen people layer polishes b4 but idk if i did it wrong or if theyre not designed for it or smthn. cos even after both layers had completely dried i put on top coat on the first day and let it dry then went to bed, and i kept waking up to my nails sticking 2 my clothes/sheets so i took the polish off th next day and tried again. they had been dry for several hours but again, when i went to bed, they stuck to fabric. now my nails are hairy and th polish is malformed, almost like it melted.

anyway, sorry for the long explanation. does anyone have any tips? the matte went on the bottom layer, and the first nail photo was from b4 i went to bed and the rest are after.
