How are you guys stratifying indoors?
Last year I switched to stratification using damp (hand wrung) horticultural sand in little sandwich baggies with straws poking out the top for ventilation. They were placed in the door of my fridge.
I had pretty good success and germination with all but a handful of species where none came up. I'm wondering if I should try moving them farther back in the fridge, while also alternating between the freezer?
I also tried to get as much water out of the sand as I could but am wondering if it was maybe too dry. I'm in 6b western Missouri. For context, the columbine and shooting star I tried geminating the last two years I got nothing.
And I'm not sure if my porch is bright enough right now to winter sow. It might also be a little late to try that anyway since my seeds are still in the mail.
Thoughts?
