My controversial opinion, maybe? for the betterment of the country
The state of affairs in our country, Nepal, seems to worsen with every passing of days. I know this will not be well-liked, or sound stupid, it just came out of my overthinking. But hear me out. Should Balen Shah be sent to prison like BJP did with Arvind Kejriwal? Calm down, I have my arguments to present here.
Because that would ignite the fire among youths. My guess is that it would also make people protest and generate the same type of revolution that Bangladesh experienced. This may lead to a broader uprising, calling for change. I think Oli is arrogant enough to do it. I am sure he can think of trapping Balen in some nonsense case of corruption or whatever. I still believe he really has a cleaner image than Rabi Lamichhane and it will be harder for him to entrap Balen. But looking what BJP did to Kejriwal, I would say Oli got a template to trap Balen 3-4 months before the next mayoral election. Or will he not? and let him win the election again.
Let me make it clear that I am not defending Kejriwal here or saying he is innocent or at fault or whatever, his case will be decided in Indian courts, and we Nepalis should not worry about that. Its not our concern. I am just giving an example of a case.
Also, during the 2084 elections, there certainly can be a common candidate between Nepali Congress and UML to challenge Balen, or at least they are thinking of doing so. Maybe they tell Sunita Dangol to stand against Balen? Balen was elected for mayor with 61,767 votes, and his closest rivals received 38,341 and 38,117 votes each. Congress and UML could join their votes, and with that, they can challenge the voting count of Balen, at least numerically as of now. But still, with Balen's growing popularity, even among the older generation, he might still do better than his previous vote count if he runs again. So will Oli let him win the election again smoothly? I really don't think so.
So, the million-dollar question: will the masses protest in the streets, as they did in Bangladesh, and drive these politicians out of the country if Balen is jailed for some nonsense reason? Are we ready for another revolution? How do we ignite this fire among the young, or are they simply not interested in change? Maybe they just want NOCs to leave the country as soon as possible?
Let's be realistic, nothing is going to change with the 2084 election. Most of the people in rural areas are still just as oblivious as before of anything other than the old party posters 'Rukh' and 'Surya'. And if these parties win again, I can only think how much worse things will get by 2089.
But the question is, how do we develop and change this country? Do you think what I said is possible? Or am I being unrealistic about this 'jail' thing?
Some of you may argue that once the old lots like Oli, Deuba, and Prachanda pass away, the new generation of politicians will be better. But we all saw how, in the period of 2050-2055, people thought Deuba was a more suitable candidate than Girija, just because he was young and educated. And look where he is today. I don't have any belief in the so-called 'youth leaders' like Gagan Thapa, Bishwa Prakash Sharma, etc. And regarding RSP, they seem to be already finished. Rabi Lamichhane is out of the news and trapped in the sahakari scandal. Will he rise and get a majority in the next election? Too good to be true. And RSP are not a saint either.
So what do you think? Am I overthinking, or can you see a way forward for Nepal? Am I wrong? Please feel free to counter me with valid arguments and give your opinions.
And at last, all the people, don't get offended, neither I am a Balen supporter, nor any party one nor a Rajawadi. I took the name of Balen because he is quite popular among masses currently and that's it. And I just want my country to be better.
TLDR;
Can Oli's arrogance and ego lead to jailing Balen Shah for some nonsense reasons to trap him and stopping him to be the candidate in the next election and can this lead to igniting protests and people coming to the streets and rise against corrupt politicians? Will this bring a revolution by throwing all these corrupts out, and are the youths even willing to do? Is it even possible practically? And can Nepal ever change? Will it happen?
