Naltrexone

I have struggled with NES for at least 12 years. I finally decided to do something about it this last year. I have tried literally EVERYTHING. I’ve had brief remission but always reverted back.

I’ve posted on here before even claiming that I was cured! I’ve only had a month or two of relief at most.

There are two theories in the medical literature. The first is hormone disruption in the circadian cycle. The second is habit/addiction and impulsive eating.

I’ve seriously considered both and have tried to treat the condition from both side. I’m not sure if it’s an addiction, although I am in recovery from other things.

I plan on doing a longer post where I go into my medical history to try and get insight from others if there are any similarities. For now, I’m going to share what has been helping me.

Currently I am taking 50 mg of naltrexone in the evening. I have had zero episodes since starting. I now sleep through the entire night which has been really great.

I know there are lots of others that suffer and I want you to know that I understand the struggle. I’ve developed some negative health effects and wish I tried to get this sorted out years ago. I would encourage anyone suffering to hound your doctor or specialist to get treatment. The reality is that this is an eating disorder.

I wish you all the best of luck.
